About Watermedia

Here you will find articles written by highly regarded professionals on the history of watermedia (inclusive) and watercolor as a medium.

Our goal is to highlight watermedia history in general as well as compare and contrast Eastern and Western development.

As this section expands, it is intended to also include perspectives and techniques in watermedia painting from a variety of our members.

WHS is fortunate to have been given permission to use the following two very informative articles by Cheng-Khee Chee, Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota, and Dr. Patricia Crown, a Professor l8th and 19th Century Art at the University of Missouri- Columbia.
